Colored Stone Magazine describes this as "not just another saw". We designed this unit to enable cutters to cut their expensive rough with the thinnest blades available. Blades or grinding wheels are mounted on ground taper type collars to provide maximum stability and to allow the cutter to remove a blade or grinding wheel and then re-install it without having to re-index it each time. A variable speed one-half horse-power motor has been used to allow the cutter to use higher speeds for thin blades that will then cut smoother and faster. (Always check with the blade manufacturer for the rating of the blade and the recommenced speeds for cutting different materials.)
This is not the type of machine where you hold the stone in your fingers and push it into the blade. A parallel camp holds the stone on the table while you feed it at a constant rate of speed by hand.
The position of the blade or wheel is controlled to enable the cutter to cut through the stone or to grind to a standard depth. The table can be positioned to allow cutting at a 45-degree angle. Use of various types of grinding wheels will allow the cutter to cut channels for inlay of stone or other materials.
These saws sell for $3,500 and are available at this time on a special order basis with from three to six weeks delivery time.
